I love dancing - i love to put the stereo on and prance about the house. Not fussy about the music, although I love dance music.
I agree - there is nothing worse than a man who won't dance with you, and there are very few things more attractive than a man who loves to dance also.

Do you love to dance?
by Maverick ini love weddings cause, "love is in the air", and you can ask any woman to dance and not get shut down.
when i went to vegas and we hit all the night clubs you could see all the couples sitting there around the dance floor, the women bobbing up and down off their seats and their guys sunk down with their butts glued to the chair.
even though i am not the best dancer, being one of those men willing to "shake that thing" i had a great time.

I'm a rare breed: I don't know any Christmas Carols
by Nosferatu inmy wife is absolutely amazed that i don't know any christmas carols.
she's asked me if i know the words to hallmark the harold angel something and i say "no".
as a child, i was exposed to them in elementary, but like a good jw, i blocked them all out.

hark the herald angels sing
Beecham's powders just the thing.....
Can't remember the rest!
Another belter -
When Santa got stuck up the chimney
He began to shout
You girls and boys won't get any toys
If you don't pull me out!
My beard is black,
There's soot on my sack
My nose is tickly too
When Santa got stuck up the chimney
Achoo achoo achoo!
- Well I liked it anyway -

stuck in!
by red so deep inwell, this is my first post here, and i'm kind of doing it in secret, cause i know if my parents knew of my "poisoning myself with apostates" they would not be happy at all.
anyways, my story is; i'm 17, i've been brought up "in the truth" my whole life, and now i'm starting to question the wt and christianity in general, and i have nobody to talk to about it.
i feel awkward about talking to my witness friends about it, cause i worry that if i speak out against the organazition and the wrong people (i.e; young ones around here that would never think of questioning the society) hear about it, it might result in my punishment (reproof or dfing).

Hi Red
Welcome! I salute your courage! What you are going to embark on is not easy but will be one of the most important things you will ever do in your life. I can empathise with your situation - I used to have 101 excuses not to go to meetings, service etc., because like you, I knew my heart wasn't in it.
I agree with the other posters - it's not a good idea to confide in a witness teen - you could never be sure if they could alert others which would give you extra pressures.
Thinking about what you want in the future is a good way forward - going to college is a great way to do this, as you will need to create a new support network for yourself. It matures you as a person and you will find new friends who will provide friendship on a more purer dimension than the JWs.
What's important is that you don't fall into the trap of having to live a double life - I had to broach the subject with my mum, but picking the time and the moment was crucial.
There are lots of good people on here who can advise you - you have made the first steps, well done.

Do you still read the magazines?
by Pleasuredome ini was speaking to a lady today who isnt a witness.
she's a very intellegent, well educated and well travelled girl, and she tells me how much she enjoys reading the watchtower and awake.
i said to her that she has to be joking, and she tells me that she she likes them a lot.

I seem to find myself strangely drawn to them - but it's with an attitude of, " I wonder what crap's in them this week ". However, the Awake sometimes has a good article on non - spiritual things, now and again I'll read that if it interests me.

Walk with Gawd District Convention - Video!
by Elsewhere infor those of you who are inclined toward sadomasochism, you might enjoy watching a very very very long video about this year?s district convention.
it is video of the setup, the baptism (more victims), the infamous drama with the demonized kid and many short interviews with jws at the convention.. one interview that stood out to me was of a teen who commented on how "nice" the small district convention is... she totally failed to connect the dots that the convention is small due to falling attendance and budget cuts.. something that stood out to me was the glaring absence of any talks.
maybe they know that the general public would find what is said to be very "cult like".. .

Exactly - I think the interviewer has serious 'issues'......
It was also interesting to see the abundant supply of fake niceness. My old KH was like that - it was like a competition to see who could be the most Christian.
As a kid it was brilliant - all those lovely old sisters who fell over each other to see who could give the kids the most sweets!

Interesting Response From JW ex-Wife
by Corvin inmy jw ex-wife called to talk to one of the kids.
they were not home, and she sounded agitated as usual.
she had a really nasty tone, very angry with a tinge of self-righteousness.

The best two pieces of advice i have ever received: " The best revenge is to live well " and - " keep your friends close, but your enemies even closer ".
I also came across a great quote from Einstein - " Great spirits always meet violent opposition from mediocre minds ". Might be a word or two out - but you get my drift.

Hi Elsewhere
What a brilliant comedy thread - I had forgotten how bad these ASSemblies are!
Did anyone else have the sudden urge to shout 'Don't do it! ' to that poor kid who ws ready to take the plunge. Funny how the parents kept emphasising how he wanted to get baptised of his own free will? In fact they pretty much laboured the point too much IMHO.
What about about that nutcase who was practically screaming 'say Jehoober' (sorry elsewhere - just stole your material there) to her kid? The best bit was I recognised nearly all of these 'types' as most of them frequented my own KH. The faces are different but the behaviour and speech are exactly the same - Stepford doesn't have a look in.
Thanks Else for a great laugh!

Do you buy flowers? or should he only? and if you are a guy, do you care?
by Sassy inwhen i was single and not dating anyone, i bought myself flowers if i felt like it...they just add that extra touch to the home.. .
but when dating, i tend to not buy them as much, because i don't want the guy to feel bad.. .
for instance right now.. my bf has messed up big time and although i would prefer he picked me up flowers for just the 'i am thinking of you" kind of thing.. i realize most guys do not do that... but he keeps talking about picking me up flowers.. he has for a month!

Personally, I love it when a guy buys me flowers, especially for no reason. I find that really romantic and thoughful - I also wouldn't feel let down by a big box of chocs either! It's something that can't be overplayed, as too often reduces its meaning.
I think the point is that the gift is irrelevant, but the fact that someone took the time and trouble to do something to please you is the main thing.
I have never bought a man flowers but if I see something, usually something quirky or funny I will buy it - just to show I have been thinking about them.
